Anne Barkowski wurde in Nürnberg geboren und studierte nach dem Abitur Lehramt mit Hauptfach Musik (Violoncello bei Peter Thalheimer und Cornelius Bönsch). Sie schloss das Studium mit dem 1. Staatsexamen ab und wurde für ihre Bachelorarbeit (Hörspiel für Kinder zu "Leben und Werk von Olivier Messiaen") mit dem Förderpreis der Stadt Nürnberg ausgezeichnet. Parallel zu anschließender freiberuflicher Tätigkeit als Lehrerin und Musikerin erlernte sie, aufbauend auf langjährigem Klavierunterricht, das Orgelspiel und studierte bis 2018 in Bayreuth Kirchenmusik. (Orgel bei Prof. Mareile Krumbholz und Prof. Matthias Neumann, Chorleitung bei Prof. Maike Bühle). Dort erhielt sie 2016 das Deutschlandstipendium.
Meisterkurse bei Prof. Pieter van Dijk, Prof. Gerhard Weinberger (Orgel), Prof. Hille Perl (Viola da Gamba) oder Roland Wilson (Historische Aufführungspraxis) bereicherten ihr Studium. Nach einem kirchenmusikalischen Praxisjahr in München-Sendling, hatte Anne Barkowski von 2019 bis 2022 die Dekanatskantorenstellen in Forchheim und anschließend in Altdorf bei Nürnberg inne. Seit Oktober 2022 ist sie Dekanatskantorin in Bad Windsheim. Berufsbegleitend studierte Anne Barkowski den Masterstudiengang Gesang mit Schwerpunkt auf historische Aufführungspraxis an der Hochschule für Musik in Nürnberg bei Prof. Knut Schoch und schloss diesen Anfang 2023 in der Rolle der „Dido“ aus Henry Purcells Oper „Dido and Aeneas“ ab. Neben ihrer Kantorentätigkeit ist Anne Barkowski auch als Sängerin, Cellistin und Gambistin aktiv.
Anne Barkowski was born in Nuremberg and studied teaching with a major in music (violoncello with Peter Thalheimer and Cornelius Bönsch) after graduating from high school. She completed her studies with the 1st state examination and was awarded the City of Nuremberg's sponsorship prize for her bachelor's thesis (radio play for children on "The Life and Work of Olivier Messiaen"). Parallel to her subsequent freelance work as a teacher and musician, she learned to play the organ, building on many years of piano lessons, and studied church music in Bayreuth until 2018. (Organ with Prof. Mareile Krumbholz and Prof. Matthias Neumann, choir conducting with Prof. Maike Bühle). There she received the Deutschlandstipendium in 2016.
Master classes with Prof. Pieter van Dijk, Prof. Gerhard Weinberger (organ), Prof. Hille Perl (viola da gamba) or Roland Wilson (historical performance practice) enriched her studies. After a year of church music practice in Munich-Sendling, Anne Barkowski held the deanery cantor posts in Forchheim and then in Altdorf near Nuremberg from 2019 to 2022. She has been deanery cantor in Bad Windsheim since October 2022. While working, Anne Barkowski studied for a Master's degree in singing with a focus on historical performance practice at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg with Prof. Knut Schoch, graduating in early 2023 in the role of "Dido" from Henry Purcell's opera "Dido and Aeneas". In addition to her cantorial activities, Anne Barkowski is also active as a singer, cellist and gambist.
